A Call for Balance: Why Nadlii Exists

At Nadlii, we believe that a truly balanced and sustainable future requires more than technological innovation. It demands the meaningful inclusion, respect, and empowerment of Indigenous peoples and their knowledge systems—systems that have been systematically excluded from modern governance, economic, and technological structures.

Indigenous knowledge, rooted in reciprocity, relationship, and respect, offers profound solutions to today’s challenges, from environmental stewardship to ethical governance. Nadlii exists to help determine that these principles are not just acknowledged but actively shape the foundations of AI, data policy, and decision-making for generations to come.

Through our work in data sovereignty, policy leadership, and AI governance, we are transforming the narrative—elevating Indigenous voices in the digital age and ensuring that Indigenous peoples have the tools to define their own futures.

Our Vision

We envision a future where Indigenous data sovereignty is fully realized, where Indigenous peoples lead in defining how their knowledge, governance systems, and digital assets shape the world. We aim to bridge Indigenous knowledge with cutting-edge technologies, providing data sovereignty, ethical AI, and modern treaties that can become pillars of global governance and economic systems.

Our Mission

Nadlii exists to:

  • Develop and promote Indigenous-led data policies that set the standard for data sovereignty, ethical AI and digital governance.

  • Advocate for Indigenous leadership in AI and digital systems, ensuring technology serves Indigenous communities—not exploits them.

  • Train and certify organizations in data sovereignty best practices.

  • Integrate modern treaties into AI and governance systems, making agreements more accessible and actionable.

  • Enable technology solutions that empower Indigenous nations, amplifying their self-determination in the digital age.

We believe in "Indigenous principles, universally applicable"—ensuring that the frameworks we create not only serve Indigenous peoples but also offer ethical, sustainable models for global AI and data governance.

Nadlii is a non-profit organization, led by a board of Indigenous and non-Indigenous leaders, legal experts, scientists, and policymakers. Together, we deliver Indigenous governance principles that can guide the evolution of data policy, AI ethics, and treaty implementation in the digital age.

Our diverse leadership & advisors includes:

  • Former Chiefs, Elders, and community leaders

  • Legal experts in Indigenous rights and governance

  • AI policy specialists, scientists, and social entrepreneurs

  • Academics and researchers in data sovereignty and emerging technologies
